And His Name

Hi Everyone

Glad to be here today. Ugh, We got snow last night – not much – just a dusting. I thought the weather man was kidding, or wrong as usual. No Way – he hit the mark last night.

You know I used to live in South Dakota (10 years) where we would get snow anytime from October through Memorial Day.

When I moved here to Indiana 2 1/2 years ago – just outside Indianapolis – I thought my snow days were over, at least until the months of January or February. I really really dislike snow.

If you had to scrape your car windows every day – before and after work – basically anytime you needed to go somewhere and shovel snow off your sidewalk and driveway – – I think you would get tired of the snow and dislike it as much as I do. I didn’t have to shovel my driveway as I had a gravel driveway, but I had a big deck 10′ x 20′ that had to be shoveled. Anytime the snow plows would clear the streets – they always left snow piled up at the end of the driveways.

Now imagine – single lady with a snow drift 7 feet high and usually 3 to 5 feet in depth covering the end of your driveway. There is no way I or anyone else could shovel that much snow away. My son spent 3 days shoveling the snow drift to no avail. Thank god businesses were closed because of the weather as there was no way my car was going anywhere. I finally called the trailer park owner and asked if something could be done for me. Woot Woot – would you believe he sent a guy with a bobcat to open up my driveway.

Imagine this scenario happening on a regular basis – Ohhhh – I soooo dislike snow even if it is just a dusting.

Well, on to better things…….

Christmas Wishes

Hi Everyone

I had a fun day today. First I had the Women’s Bible Study Class today and then we went out for lunch. We ended up at Cracker Barrel. Oh my, it was sooo good. I had this new item – it was fish cooked in a pecan crust thingy. Oh Wow – my mouth waters just thinking about it. It was really delicious.

I think fall is finally here. It’s getting cold at night and warming up in the day but not getting hot anymore. The leaves are turning and falling off the trees. I love the colors of fall – especially the trees, but I hate to see summer leave. I get cold really easy – so I don’t like cold weather. Once I get cold, it takes forever to get warm – not looking forward to the cold weather. I love Christmas though and that’s what kind of card I have today. If any of you are Stampin’ Up Demonstrators. This is my case of the the card in Stampin Success (a magazine for Stampin’ Up Demonstrators only) page 27.

Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone

How’s it going for everyone? I’m doing just peachy keen. I love that saying – peachy keen. I think I got it off of Laverne and Shirley or maybe Grease for you that are old enough to remember those shows. They were great fun shows.

I have two cards for you they are the same but different. The layout slightly varies on each one and I used different colors on each one.  I like the first one better and my husband likes the second one best. Which one do you like best? Anyways, I hope you enjoy them.

Happy Holidays

Hi Everyone

Oh my – it’s Friday already. Anyone have anything exciting going on this weekend? I get to have a fun-filled crafting weekend. I get to craft to my heart’s desire. Woo Hoo. Weather is supposed to be nice, too. In the 70’s both days. Mmmm, that sounds like good days to do some outdoor stuff – like a picnic in the park. I love picnics. My hubby has never been on a picnic where you sit on a blanket and eat off paper plates. I have tried to get him to go on a picnic (he says he would like to go on a picinie) but he just won’t go. He seems to always come up with an excuse. Wow, we did that growing up – it was sooo much fun!

My card is no where close to making you think of nice weather. In fact, it will make you think of cold and snow – but fun. Originally I made this card for the Church Craft Nite, but I  changed my mind about it. I thought it might be just a little bit too advanced for a beginner stamper and I don’t know – if any – of the people that sign up will know anything about stamping or not.  Ok, here’s my card 🙂

Watermark Portrait-001

And ……….. like the other cards ………. this card has retired Stampin’ Up products and products that are non – Stampin’ Up. That means – no product list.

Well……   That’s it for today and I hope you enjoyed my post. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think about my post. If there is anything you need or want just email me at: cynthia.hawkins999@gmail.com

Hello

Hi Everyone

How’s it going today.? Wow, the weather here today is just gorgeous. It’s 69 degrees and the sun is shining. Just beautiful. Perfect for a picnic or to play in the park.  Great day for going to the zoo. Any outside activity would do as long as you don’t have to sit on some cold bleachers. 🙂

Today’s card reminds me of a pretty spring or summer day.

Church Craft Nite

Hi Everyone

Well, Have I been out of it or what. I have really been out of it.

I am soo sorry everyone for not posting this last month. As you know I have had a string of bad luck and lots of migraines  – I guess everything just caught up with me.

I have managed to get in my craft room the last couple of days. We are having a craft night at my church in November. I have made some crafts for that night. I’m soo excited about it. People will sign up in advance to make my crafts.  Woo Hoo – I am really excited about this. I will be able to get my name out in the community with some fellow crafters. Wish me luck and I hope everything goes well for all of us crafters that are going to be there.

I am just going to post pictures of the crafts we will be doing that night. I will not be making a supply list for each of the products, nor will I make a supply list of any kind. I do want you to know that not all the crafts will be using Stampin’ Up products and some of the crafts will be using retired Stampin’ Up products.

I hope you enjoy my crafts – I had lots of fun making them. “)

I have a problem – a really big problem. Since I discovered card challenges and found out that I like doing them – I found out I really like them but there are more challenges than I can keep up with. I want to do them all and I’m finding out I can’t keep up with all of them. How do I decide which ones to do and which ones not to do? I like them all. Oh dear! The other day I tried to do all the challenges I had so that I wouldn’t have any waiting on me to do. Well as you remember I had a couple days where I had several cards. – where I was trying to get all of them done. Unfortunately on those two days alone I added several more challenges to my list. Now it is really long again. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad – I just know it’s a lot of challenges. How do I decide which ones to do?

While I try and figure out my dilemma – I do have two more cards for you today. 🙂

Christmas Wishes

Hi Everyone

Wow – today is a good day. I played in my craft room aaaallll day. Only thing is my brain refused to be creative. I was only able to make two cards. I will post one today and I will post the other one tomorrow. Since I will be going to church tomorrow, I might not have time to play.  This card is form Pals Paper Arts PPA169. Just For You and I can’t Thank You Enough

Hi Everyone

I have some Stampin’ Up specials for you – woo hoo

Undefined Stamp Carving Kit

During Convention 2013, Stampin’ Up! unveiled an exciting new product called the Undefined Stamp Carving Kit.

That’s right – a stamp carving kit!  It’s “undefined” because you get to carve what YOU want on your stamp or stamps!  You can express your personality, interests, thoughts, and feelings by carving your own stamps.  You’ll really get a “look what I made!” sense of satisfaction!

Here’s a great little video to show you just how easy it is to carve your own stamps:

Here is what is included in the Undefined Stamp Carving Kit, item # 133402, $19.95:

Undefined carving kit

– 2 carving tools, 3″ x 4″ rubber, 3″ x 4″ foam, 4 wood blocks (various sizes), Island Indigo Stampin’ Write Marker, 3 postcards, instructions, and stamp image templates (in case you can’t think of anything on your own!)

We know you’ll have lots of ideas for making your own special stamps, so we highly recommend you purchase a Undefined Refill Kit at the same time!  It is is item # 134808 and costs $9.95.  Here’s what is included:

Undefined refill kit

– 3″ x 4″ rubber, 3″ x 4″ foam, 4 wood blocks (various sizes), and instructions

If you prefer Clear-Mount stamps or think you might want to carve a bigger stamp than the wood blocks provided, you can purchase our Clear-Mount Cling Foam (item # 124236, $10.95).

Need some ideas of what you can carve?  How about these suggestions:

  • a catch phrase or word you or your family uses all the time
  • a family logo
  • the name of your favorite vacation spot
  • a favorite food or drink
  • a team name or logo
  • your name or a family member’s name or initials
  • high school or college mascot or emblem
  • a stamp representing a favorite activity
  • a blog logo
  • a favorite animal
  • a speech bubble
  • a favorite image from a stamp set that is no longer available
  • a punctuation mark (like a @, !, &, or ?)
  • an image from My Digital Studio
  • a favorite cartoon character
  • a superhero logo
  • a stamp to use for a specific party theme
  • a video game character or logo
  • social media buttons (Like button, Pinterest button, etc.)
  • religious emblems
  • any image you’ve always wanted a stamp of that you haven’t been able to find!

You can see some actual carved images and projects created with them on Stampin’ Up!’s Pinterest page for the Undefined Kit by clicking here.

Hello Sweet Friend

Hi Everyone

Oh wow, I really feel groggy and out of it today. Should feel much better tomorrow. I really really really dislike migraines. Definitely not one of my faves!

For today’s card, I played around with hexagons – the new stamp set and punch along with the new in-colors. Can’t think about the names too long – they makes me hungry. I really like them – soft colors, not bold. Don’t get me wrong – I love bold colors with Red being my favorite color then white. Let me know what you think about my card,

Hello

Woo hoo – Today’s card. I did a new technique on this card. I don’t know if there is a name for it. I inked my brayer and I ran it over the raised side of an embossing folder. I then put my card front in the folder and pressed it and rubbed it and pressed it and rubbed it and the image was then on my card front. I used the Stripes Embossing Folder for this technique and I really like the way it turned out.  Another neat technique I did was with the clay flower. I smushed ( is that even a word?) the flower into the Daffodil Delight ink pad. I then used my aqua painter and painted Melon Mambo in the crevices of the flower to give it a two-tone look. The flower turned out very nice. Have a look. 🙂

Thinking of You

Hi Everyone

OUCHIE- OUCHIE- OUCHIE- OUCHIE, I had a bad migraine yesterday. I spent most of the day in bed – yuck. I am better today – yippee – yippee!!

I have a really cute card for today – at least I think it’s cute. I hope you agree. I used a white gel pen to make the dots in the  middle of the flowers – otherwise they were really plain. I think it dressed up the flowers quite a bit. If you look closely at the card you can see where I used the Score Board to make two line borders around the card and the focal point fits perfectly in the center of this border.

Finally, today’s card. I hope you enjoy it. This is a “Try Stamping On Tuesday ”  card challenge. I did not post it on their blog. One day I will start posting on their blogs. I’m just trying to get ideas from them and trying to get used to them as they are different than what I am used to doing. I usually pick out a stamp set that I want to use and then create a card from it.

Hi Everyone

How’s your weekend so far. Been busy here, I have Swiss Steak going in the crockpot. I made Meatballs and Spaghetti from scratch, it’s on the stove simmering now. Weather bites though. It’s been raining off and on all day. But, on a good note, I do have a card today.

Friends Forever

Hi Everyone

How’s everyone doing? Did you have a nice 4th of July. We had all the fixin’s – fried chicken, tater salad, baked beans and deviled eggs. Yummy it was really good. We watched the fireworks last night from our yard. That was great.

Today’s card is a card challenge from Sketch Frenzy Friday 62113. I didn’t submit it as I’m not sure how to do that yet. I really had fun making this card. It’s a simple card, you can make it in less than 10 minutes. Nice and easy.

Just For You

Hi Everyone

WOW!!! This has been a difficult day. My husband came home from work and informed me he is no longer employed. What a bummer. Guess the economics are not improving after all. Unfortunately, he was not the only one that was hit in this cut back. Ouch. I am kinda numb. Not sure how today’s post is going to go, but I will try and stay focused.

Purse Tutorial

Hi Everyone

I am really sorry about not being on the last few days. There has just been so much going on. If life wasn’t happening – migraines were. Well, anyways, I’m here today.

I have been asked to make a tutorial of the purse I have previously posted. You can see original post here. This is my first tutorial, so I hope you understand it. If you have any questions or need clarification on anything – please leave a post or email me: cynthia.hawkins999@gmail.com.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-001

The purse back is 9″ X 8 1/2″

On one of the 9″ sides – score at 2″ and 3 1/4″

Score at 1 1/4″ on the 3 remaining sides

Don’t pay any attention to the punched circles. I wrote the wrong measurement down, so I just covered it with a circle.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-002

Score and cut where indicated. The purse back will look like this:

Purse Tutorial Pictures-003

The Purse Front measure 8 1/2″ X 5 3/4″

Score at 1 1/4″ on both 5 3/4″  sides and one 8 1/2″ side

Purse Tutorial Pictures-004

Score and cut where indicated. The purse front will look like this:

Purse Tutorial Pictures-005

You want to go ahead and embellish the front of the purse with any designer series paper and any flat embellishments.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-006

Add sticky strip to the back side of the purse front as shown: I used 1/2″ sticky strip since it was all I had, but 1/4″ will work just as good.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-007

You want to peel the sticky strip off the bottom of the purse and adhere the tabs to the bottom of the purse as shown: I know this picture is upside down, it was the only way I could show you what to do. 🙂

Purse Tutorial Pictures-008

Remove rest of stick strip and attach to purse back. The flaps on the purse back will go inside the purse front so the seams will be on the back side of the purse. It is easier if you attach the bottom of the purse first.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-009

Then attach the sides.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-010

Your purse should look like this:

Purse Tutorial Pictures-011

Next, you want to make the handle. I used about 15-16″ of ribbon. I took the end of the ribbon and folded it over 2 times so there are no edges showing and also to help reinforce it.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-012

You put this on the underside of the purse top and wrap ribbon around outside of top. Make sure the ribbon on inside of purse is lined up with the ribbon on the outside and using your paper piercer – pierce through all layers.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-013

Insert brad through all. Repeat on other side.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-014

If you are going to have a decoration for the closure, you want to make sure it is something that is not going to come off as people will try and pull on it to open the purse. I used a ribbon bow that I wrapped a brad around (instead of tying it) and then pushed the brad through the purse top as shown:

Purse Tutorial Pictures-015

Underside of top showing the brad ends.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-016

I then used velcro closures to hide the brad on the underside.

Purse Tutorial Pictures-017

Purse Tutorial Pictures-018

You now want to add the rest of your embellishments. I didn’t add anymore to this purse except some more washi tape.

Here is a purse I had previously made that I added more embellishments on the outside:

Watermark Landscape-002

You are now finished with your purse. It will hold 6 cards and envelopes depending on how fat your embellishments are. Here is the finished purse and 6 cards:

New Magnetic Platform for our Big Shot, Framelits and Edgelits…..Available in the New Catalog Today Starting at Noon

Magnetic Platform item #130658

We are excited to show you a new product called the Magnetic Platform. It is designed to use with your Big Shot for Framelits and Edgelits. When you use the Magnetic Platform, you will not need your Multipurpose Platform. You will still need to use the Standard Cutting Pads. The great thing about the Magnetic Platform is that the magnets are so strong; they will allow you to use the Magnetic Platform with your Standard Cutting Pads, which protects it. You will especially love using the Magnetic Platform with your stamp sets that have matching Framelits. Once you have stamped the images, you can lay the paper on the clear cutting pad and the Framelits will easily attract to the magnets in the platform holding the Framelit safely in place, and lining it up to the image – right where you need it. The Magnetic Platform can also be used with Edgelits. They are so fun, but can be frustrating to try to keep them straight as they run through the Big Shot. You can rig up a solution, like post-it notes, but if you have the Magnetic Platform you won’t need to. You can line up the Edgelit anywhere on your project that you want and send it through your Big Shot with confidence that the cut will be in exactly the right place. Thanks for watching today, as you can see the Magnetic Platform is an essential addition to your Big Shot collection.

Happy Birthday

Hi Everyone

How’s it going today. I went to church this morning and they honored the veterans. Some of the little kids made cards for the vets. I ended up with 3 cards. They were so cute. I served 4 years in the Air Force. Not going to say when, since it was a long time ago.  I am still planning on that BBQ  tomorrow. The high for today is 69, but the high for tomorrow is 75 – perfect for grilling.

Today’s card is a spring/summer card. Lots of butterflies. I just love butterflies and things that sparkle. Like my card today has butterflies that sparkle. I used Dazzling Details – the one in the bottle – on the butterflies and then I painted it with a paintbrush. I sprayed the card with Frosted White Shimmer Spray that also makes it sparkle.  You can see for yourself how the card just sparkles.

Hi Everyone

Woo hoo – 3 day weekend. What does everyone have planned for this weekend. Anyone doing anything special? If the weather is nice – I plan on having a BBQ with just my husband and I. I think it would be fun to sit outside and eat. If it’s still cold, guess we will eat inside.

Well, on to today’s card. I made the background paper using versa mark, a stamp set (Papillion Potpouri), and Smokey Slate card stock. I just love the Natural Composition paper that is retiring and I don’t have any, so I decided to make my own. I think it turned out really nice.

Oh, Hello

Hi Everyone

How are you today? I am so thankful that I do not live in Oklahoma City. I have been praying for them ever since I heard about the tornado this morning. My heart goes out to all of them. I am really in shock over what happened. Wandering around in a daze even though I do not have any family there and I do not know anyone that lives there. I can not comprehend what everyone is going through and feeling. It’s just so devastating. My prayers go out to them.

I have a fun card for you today. Love the flowers. I have put some flowers out in the yard that a neighbor has given me. I don’t know anything about flowers. Now – tomato plants – I can grow. I love home grown tomatoes – love to pick them off the vine and eat them. mmmm yummy  Not so sure about flowers. We will see how they turn out. Maybe I do have a green thumb for flowers.

Hi Everyone

Wow, I just love today’s card. It is also a case job. I got this idea from Connie Stewart. You can see her card and video on how to make the card here. Of course, I didn’t use the same stamps or colors, but the layout is the same. I must say – beautiful card.

Thank You

Hi Everyone

Did everyone have a good weekend and Mother’s Day. Most of my weekend was spent in bed – ugh – another migraine.  I did have a surprise this weekend. My sister sent me some flowers. That was a very nice surprise. I did manage to get up long enough to make her a gift. I made a card using one of the sneak peek stamp sets and matching embossing folder – Wildflower Meadow. Very pretty card if I say so myself.

Hope you enjoy.

Watermark Landscape-001

I also made her a gift box with 5 cards and matching envelopes. The cards were made using Serene Silhouettes and each one of the Feel Goods sayings. Each card is in a different color. I used the 2013-2014 In colors for the cards.

Just For You

Hi Everyone

How is everyone doing. I have been busy busy busy. I have been working on cards for a Hostess Gift. Duh, other than that, I can’t remember what I have been doing. I know I have been busy. Guess I am just scatter-brained today. Ever have days like that?

Well, on to today’s card. It has lots of colors – all the colors go with the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper. I also used some of that paper on the card. 🙂 This card is so bright and cheerful. The butterflies were made by covering some whisper white card stock with some Gingham Garden Washi Tape and then I just punched them out using Bitty Butterfly Punch. I really thought that was a neat idea.

Kindness

Hi Everyone

Woo Hoo the weekend is finally here. Didn’t get to sleep in late. I had to take my son to his National Guard weekend thingy. Had to drive an hour just to get him there. He will be home tomorrow. He usually finds someone to bring him home. Boy am I thankful for that. The weather, omg, the weather is a farce. I can’t believe it’s not even supposed to hit 70 today. That really bites. Going to get some tomato plants later today. MMMMMM……I love fresh tomatoes. Nothing like picking tomatoes off the vine and then eat it. Soooo yummy.

It took me a while to get today’s card to come out right. I started embossing it on white card stock. I kept moving the card stock – thus smearing the image. I then decided to try colored card stock. That didn’t work any better. After some contemplation I decided to try Designer Series Paper. Wow, it worked. The first one I did – I put it on Regal Rose and boy did it look nice. UGH, I didn’t have any regal rose card stock. Thus putting me back to square one. Well, there are other colors in the Designer Series Paper pack. I then put it on Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper. Boy did it pop. Woo hoo – I even have Daffodil Delight card stock. Woo hoo – Woo hoo. Daffodil Delight  is what you are going to see. The final card on Daffodil Delight.

Hi Everyone

What’s the weather like where you are. So much for Spring. It is cold again today. Had to turn heater on earlier. Ran air conditioner last couple days, then we have to get a cold day to say – hahaha fooled you – spring is not here yet. What a bummer.

Today’s card is another sneak peek of some more new products and colors. I am really impressed with today’s card. I think it turned out really great.

For You

Hi Everyone

OMG!!! I think Spring just might be here. Two days in a row – beautiful weather – as long as you don’t get in the car – hot in the car. We will see if Spring is here to stay this time. Sure hope so. 🙂

I’m excited about today’s card. As you know’ Stampin’ Up Demonstrators get to order a few items before catalogs go live. Well today’s card is a sneak peek of some of the new products.  Also, we are not allowed to show you the new products until the catalog goes live so there will be pictures of items missing when you go through the supply list.          ALERT!        ALERT!     ALERT!            The yellow Baker’s Twine – is not yellow Baker’s Twine. You see -.- I took white Baker’s Twine and sprayed it with Daffodil Delight spray. How awesome is that? I got just the color I wanted – perfect match. 🙂
