Hi Everyone

100 lashes with a wet noodle for me for being gone so long. I am really sorry about my absence. I have no good reason, and I do thank all of you for not abandoning me.

Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving. I know I certainly did. We went to a friend’s house (that I met at church- woo hoo) and spent the day with her and her family. We just sat around and ate good food and talked about all the nothings in the world.

Today’s cards I cased from Connie Stewart. She has a video showing you how to make 4 cards with 3 pieces of paper (2 neutral and 2 half sheets of color). Isn’t that awesome. She is a wonderful lady and has such enthusiasm. You can see her cards and video here. Here’s my take on her cards.

Hi Everyone

Glad to be here today. Ugh, We got snow last night – not much – just a dusting. I thought the weather man was kidding, or wrong as usual. No Way – he hit the mark last night.

You know I used to live in South Dakota (10 years) where we would get snow anytime from October through Memorial Day.

When I moved here to Indiana 2 1/2 years ago – just outside Indianapolis – I thought my snow days were over, at least until the months of January or February. I really really dislike snow.

If you had to scrape your car windows every day – before and after work – basically anytime you needed to go somewhere and shovel snow off your sidewalk and driveway – – I think you would get tired of the snow and dislike it as much as I do. I didn’t have to shovel my driveway as I had a gravel driveway, but I had a big deck 10′ x 20′ that had to be shoveled. Anytime the snow plows would clear the streets – they always left snow piled up at the end of the driveways.

Now imagine – single lady with a snow drift 7 feet high and usually 3 to 5 feet in depth covering the end of your driveway. There is no way I or anyone else could shovel that much snow away. My son spent 3 days shoveling the snow drift to no avail. Thank god businesses were closed because of the weather as there was no way my car was going anywhere. I finally called the trailer park owner and asked if something could be done for me. Woot Woot – would you believe he sent a guy with a bobcat to open up my driveway.

Imagine this scenario happening on a regular basis – Ohhhh – I soooo dislike snow even if it is just a dusting.

Hi Everyone

I had a fun day today. First I had the Women’s Bible Study Class today and then we went out for lunch. We ended up at Cracker Barrel. Oh my, it was sooo good. I had this new item – it was fish cooked in a pecan crust thingy. Oh Wow – my mouth waters just thinking about it. It was really delicious.

I think fall is finally here. It’s getting cold at night and warming up in the day but not getting hot anymore. The leaves are turning and falling off the trees. I love the colors of fall – especially the trees, but I hate to see summer leave. I get cold really easy – so I don’t like cold weather. Once I get cold, it takes forever to get warm – not looking forward to the cold weather. I love Christmas though and that’s what kind of card I have today. If any of you are Stampin’ Up Demonstrators. This is my case of the the card in Stampin Success (a magazine for Stampin’ Up Demonstrators only) page 27.

Hi Everyone

How’s it going for everyone? I’m doing just peachy keen. I love that saying – peachy keen. I think I got it off of Laverne and Shirley or maybe Grease for you that are old enough to remember those shows. They were great fun shows.

Hi Everyone

Oh my – it’s Friday already. Anyone have anything exciting going on this weekend? I get to have a fun-filled crafting weekend. I get to craft to my heart’s desire. Woo Hoo. Weather is supposed to be nice, too. In the 70’s both days. Mmmm, that sounds like good days to do some outdoor stuff – like a picnic in the park. I love picnics. My hubby has never been on a picnic where you sit on a blanket and eat off paper plates. I have tried to get him to go on a picnic (he says he would like to go on a picinie) but he just won’t go. He seems to always come up with an excuse. Wow, we did that growing up – it was sooo much fun!

My card is no where close to making you think of nice weather. In fact, it will make you think of cold and snow – but fun. Originally I made this card for the Church Craft Nite, but I changed my mind about it. I thought it might be just a little bit too advanced for a beginner stamper and I don’t know – if any – of the people that sign up will know anything about stamping or not. Ok, here’s my card 🙂

Hi Everyone

Well, Have I been out of it or what. I have really been out of it.

I am soo sorry everyone for not posting this last month. As you know I have had a string of bad luck and lots of migraines – I guess everything just caught up with me.

I have managed to get in my craft room the last couple of days. We are having a craft night at my church in November. I have made some crafts for that night. I’m soo excited about it. People will sign up in advance to make my crafts. Woo Hoo – I am really excited about this. I will be able to get my name out in the community with some fellow crafters. Wish me luck and I hope everything goes well for all of us crafters that are going to be there.

I am just going to post pictures of the crafts we will be doing that night. I will not be making a supply list for each of the products, nor will I make a supply list of any kind. I do want you to know that not all the crafts will be using Stampin’ Up products and some of the crafts will be using retired Stampin’ Up products.

I have a problem – a really big problem. Since I discovered card challenges and found out that I like doing them – I found out I really like them but there are more challenges than I can keep up with. I want to do them all and I’m finding out I can’t keep up with all of them. How do I decide which ones to do and which ones not to do? I like them all. Oh dear! The other day I tried to do all the challenges I had so that I wouldn’t have any waiting on me to do. Well as you remember I had a couple days where I had several cards. – where I was trying to get all of them done. Unfortunately on those two days alone I added several more challenges to my list. Now it is really long again. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad – I just know it’s a lot of challenges. How do I decide which ones to do?

While I try and figure out my dilemma – I do have two more cards for you today. 🙂

Hi Everyone

Do you guys remember that migraine I had the other day. It came back yesterday – yuck, so I am having another day of recuperating from them.

Alrighty on a positive note – today’s card…… Woo Hoo

This card is for Paper Craft Crew Challenge #53.

I do say the card looks much better in person than in the picture. The picture does not do it justice at all. The flowers in the background are stamped in Blushing Bride to match the chevron ribbon. In the picture the flowers look like Calypso Coral to match the card stock, So in the picture the chevron ribbon looks like it doesn’t match anything and sticks out like a sore thumb. Not only that, the clay flower is painted with Blushing Bride and looks like Calypso Coral in the picture. You guys pop me an email (cynthia.hawkins999@gmail.com) or leave me a comment letting me know if you agree with me about the chevron ribbon and clay flower. The Pearl Jewels are colored in pink sharpie, then orange sharpie, and again in pink sharpie – I think they look like Calypso Coral in the picture. You know – they are supposed to look like Calypso Coral. hehe

They’ve been called flip cards, flip flop cards, swing cards, and more-but they have always been a bit tricky to create. Not anymore! Our amazing new Thinlits Card Dies cut and score to create a card that flips in just one step.

Oh wow, I really feel groggy and out of it today. Should feel much better tomorrow. I really really really dislike migraines. Definitely not one of my faves!

For today’s card, I played around with hexagons – the new stamp set and punch along with the new in-colors. Can’t think about the names too long – they makes me hungry. Woo hoo – Today’s card. I did a new technique on this card. I don’t know if there is a name for it. I inked my brayer and I ran it over the raised side of an embossing folder. I then put my card front in the folder and pressed it and rubbed it and pressed it and rubbed it and the image was then on my card front. I used the Stripes Embossing Folder for this technique and I really like the way it turned out. Another neat technique I did was with the clay flower. I smushed ( is that even a word?) the flower into the Daffodil Delight ink pad. I then used my aqua painter and painted Melon Mambo in the crevices of the flower to give it a two-tone look. The flower turned out very nice. Have a look. 🙂

Here’s a project Lindsey Hortin made with the This Makes Me Happy Pocket Cards. Lindsey used gel medium to transfer the image to a canvas board. It was her first time, so don’t judge too harshly (because she’s trying not to). Let’s just say that Lindsey needs to be a little more patient and needs some more practice. On the other hand, it does say, “THIS IS LIFE,” and let’s face it—life is imperfect and a little messy.

Hi Everyone

OUCHIE- OUCHIE- OUCHIE- OUCHIE, I had a bad migraine yesterday. I spent most of the day in bed – yuck. I am better today – yippee – yippee!!

I have a really cute card for today – at least I think it’s cute. I hope you agree. I used a white gel pen to make the dots in the middle of the flowers – otherwise they were really plain. I think it dressed up the flowers quite a bit. If you look closely at the card you can see where I used the Score Board to make two line borders around the card and the focal point fits perfectly in the center of this border.

Hi Everyone

Woo hoo, my card challenge from yesterday uploaded correctly. I am really excited about that. If you missed my very first card challenge you can see it here. It is card #18. I am sooo excited about it and I didn’t have any trouble at all uploading it.

With that being said. I am doing my 2nd challenge today. Now I understand when people say this sketch was tricky, or I had to really think about this one or this one took several tries but I finally came up with a card I’m happy with. Well, this being my 2nd card challenge – guess what? I found this one to be a challenge for me trying to come up with papers that I thought would go together and the embellishments. On the other hand, I am finding challenges to be fun. I have found another one for tomorrow. Woo hoo.

Hi Everyone

Soooo sorry I haven’t been on for a few days. You know with my hubby being home all day – really messes my routine up. Since he is not working right now – he thinks he is supposed to sleep all day. How’s everyone doing? Did you have a nice 4th of July. We had all the fixin’s – fried chicken, tater salad, baked beans and deviled eggs. Yummy it was really good. We watched the fireworks last night from our yard. That was great.

Today’s card is a card challenge from Sketch Frenzy Friday 62113. I didn’t submit it as I’m not sure how to do that yet. I really had fun making this card. It’s a simple card, you can make it in less than 10 minutes. Nice and easy.

Now for today’s card. I made some medallions and they are much bigger than I anticipated. Actually they have more depth than I expected so they make the card thick and I don’t think it will fit in a regular envelope.

I am going to stop posting pictures of all the products that I use for making the cards. I have been playing around with my blog and I just noticed that I have a space limit on what I can post and I am getting close to that limit. Unfortunately the only option is to upgrade in order to increase my capacity. So for right now, I will just post pictures of the stamp sets until I can figure out what to do (as you know my husband was downsized). He did have a job interview yesterday, but it will be 2 weeks before we know anything. I will definitely keep you posted as to when he finds another job.
